We are excited to announce that our new Engine 2 has started production. This is possible due to our citizens' support. This apparatus is the last of three new engines ordered from our bond funding. This engine will allow us to remove a 1993 Engine that is currently on the front lines. The new engine should be in service the last quarter of 2025, which means the current engine would have served our citizens for 32 years as a first out apparatus.
Engine 2 is our busiest volunteer fire engine. It made every working structure fire in 2024. This replacement will increase our response capabilities, decrease response times due to on board charges and air compressor, and increase maneuverability with a shorter chassis.
The current Engine 2 will move to reserve status. This will give us our first reserve tanker. Currently we are seeing delays in repairs to our apparatus due to parts availability or shop staffing issues. This will allow us to have a reserve in the future to cover maintenance or repairs of tankers. Currently we move a truck with about 1/3 of the water into the spot to cover the void. |
